Sweat / Sudor (video installation)

2004

Some of my Ideas have involved activating “dead” zones within a city, orchestrating events that seek to re-engage the public’s participation in a space, while at the same time provoking contradictory sentiments in the spectator. An example of this is “Sweat” 2004. In this piece the public was invited to an open urban basketball court to contemplate a prior game which had been played and filmed on the court, and was projected onto the backboards. Only the ball entering and leaving the hoop was visible; the public itself served as both spectator and passive players.
